I simply left Kirkwall with them, refusing to be left behind, insisting I could defend both of us. We helped the Inquisition, and they were right--we did die together in the Fade at least once.

Other times, we would leave together, continuing our travels before eventually returning to Kirkwall to bother Aveline. I got assigned a low ranking position in the government so Varric had an excuse to talk to me when he was supposed to be working. Hawke needed no such thing, being the Champion.
